The Goal of Safe Ride Programs United is to create a tight knit organization with partner programs to convey feedback and help Safe Ride Programs become a staple at many Universities across the nation.
Overall Goals
SRPU is currently working towards becoming a true umbrella organization that can provide aid, both organizationally and monetarily, to safe ride programs nationwide. We are working on a few things now that will help move us in this direction. Enterprise has jumped on board, and we have worked out a contract with them that will allow any SRPU program to receive the lowest rates. We are also hoping to establish more contracts with other firms that can contribute to the success of safe ride programs. We are working on building an Endowment fund that we hope will start to fund these programs in the future. We also hope to strengthen the ties between programs, most notably through continuing to hold the SRPU conference each and every year.
Goals for 2008 Conference
The 2008 conference will again be held in College Station, Texas. After the 2007 conference doubled the previous year’s attendance to 54 delegates from 11 programs, our goal for the 2008 conference is to have 80 delegates from 20 different universities. We will continue to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of our conference, and already have great plans in the works for next year. If your safe ride program has not attended before, please build it into your budget for next year to send a few delegates. We will again be covering much of the costs of the conference, and the fees should again be very low. The date for the 2008 conference has not yet been set, but it will probably be in February again.
